ABSTRACT

The clinical ability of employees in laboratory medicine refers to their ability to give useful information and helps for clinical diagnosis and treatment. In laboratory medicine education, the cultivation of the undergraduates'clinical ability should be strengthened.Case teaching and clinical signs analysis is practical to the cultivation of clinical ability. In addition,we should carry out the reform of the teaching materials in order to adapt to the requirements of the clinical ability training. Improving the clinical ability should be the students' a lifelong career planning.

ABSTRACT

In order to examine the strong anticancer action and low toxicity of Trichostatin A (TSA), the effect of TSA was examined on the growth inhibition, acetylation of histone H3 and apoptosis in HL-60 cells by employing MTT, immunocytochemical techniques, and Annexin-V-FITC/ PI assay. Our results showed that TSA could inhibit proliferation of HL- 60 cells in a time- and dose-dependent manner, and the IC50 at the 36th h was 100 ng/ml. The apoptosis-inducing effect of TSA on HL-60 cells was also time- and dose-dependent. But it didn't demonstrate apparent apoptosis induction in NPBMNCs within specific dose and time range. Both of the acetylation of histone H3 in HL-60 cells and NPBMNCs increased significantly (P0.05). It is concluded that TSA can inhibit growth and induce apoptosis of HL-60 cells in a time- and dose-dependent manner, and is able to selectively induce apoptosis in HL-60 cells but does not respond in NPBMNCs under the same conditions. The difference of TSA between HL-60 cells and NPBMNCs can't be explained by the regulation of histone acetylation.

Both of the acetylation of histone H3 in HL-60 cells and NPBMNCs increased significantly (P<0.05) after treated with 100 ng/ml TSA for 4 h. However, there was no significant differences between the two groups (P>0.05).

ABSTRACT

Case teaching method was used to undergraduates’specialized courses of clinical laboratory medicine such as the clinical laboratory hemotology and basic clinical laboratory medicine. This teaching method achieved satisfactory effect in clinical ability culture and obtained the positive opinion of students.

ABSTRACT

Purpose:To explore the effects of stem cell factor(SCF) in combination with erythropoietin (EPO) on erythropoiesis in patients with anemia associated with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL). Methods:Bone marrow (BM) mononuclear cells (MNC) from NHL patients and normal simples were cultured for 7 consecutives days in the presence or absence of SCF, EPO, and SCF+EPO in liquid medium. Erythropoiesis was analyzed by calculating the fraction of recovered erythroid cells and by flow cytometry. Results:Cultures stimulated with SCF+EPO contained a marked increased fractions of recovered erythroid cells compared to cells cultured in EPO alone in NHL simples (P

ABSTRACT

AIM: To study the effects of vitamins on vascular activity elements in rabbits with atherosclerosis risk factors to determine whether vitamins have a role in preventing atherosclerosis. METHODS: 26 male Chinese rabbits were randomly divided into 3 groups. The first group was fed with normal feed as control group (n=6) .The other two groups were fed with normal feed plus cholesterol, lard and methionine as model group (n=10) and vitamin treatment group (n=10) respectively. In addition, the vitamin group was given multi-vitamin daily by gastrogavage. The experiment lasted for 8 wk. The vascular activity elements of the three groups were detected by radioimmunoassay and nitrate reductase respectively ,and the aorta pathological sample was prepared. RESULTS: In model group, the levels of plasma endothelin and thromboxane B 2/6-keto-prostaglandin F l? were significantly increased compared with control group, but serum nitric oxide showed no obvious changes between both groups. In vitamin group, the levels of plasma endothelin and thromboxane B 2 were significantly decreased, and the levels of 6-keto-prostaglandin F1? and nitric oxide were significantly increased compared with model group. In model group, there were significant pathological lesions, but the lesion was decreased by vitamin treatment. CONCLUTION: The vitamins supplement can alleviate or block the impairment of vascular endothelia caused by atherosclerosis risk factors, and help adjust the equilibrium of vascular activity elements. Therefore vitamins may play a positive role in preventing atherosclerosis.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To investigate whether the IgG from patients with antiphospholipid syndrome(APS) is capable of stimulating blood monocytes to express tissue factor(TF) activity and to explore the mechanisms possibly concerned. Methods:Freshly isolated peripheral blood monocytes were cultured in media containing purified APS IgG or normal IgG or RP-1 [a monoclonal anti-?_2 glucoprotein I(?-?_2GPI)antibody] and/or other agonists and the TF activity on monocytes was investigated by measuring factor Ⅶa-dependent generation of factor Xa.Results:APS IgG as well as RP-1 significantly increased monocytes TF activity, comparing to normal IgG;exogenous ?_2GPI enhanced the effects as the intact IgG molecule. Conclusion:That certain antiphospholipid antibodies, mainly anti-?_2GPI antibodies, induce monocytes TF activity in an antigen-specific manner, not via Fc receptor pathway,is contributed to the thrombotic diathesis in APS.

ABSTRACT

Objectives: To study the effect of early enteral nutrition using Fresubin after gastrointestinal operation. Methods:78 postoprative patients were divided into two groups. The jejunostic tube group(A group, n=50) received the enteral nutrition(Fresubin) 6h after operation, and the control group(B group, n=28)received the intravenous infusion and then the oral liquid diet after the bowel movement recovery. The clinical findings, operative complications, blood glucose, the function of liver and kidney, electrolytes and nutritional status were observed. Results:The recovery of bowel movement in group A was much earlier than that in group B(P
